Arezzo, May 23, 2025 – Note from Councilor Michele Menchetti:

“Abandoned buildings, the former school of Battifolle condemned to decay”

"Once again, the immobility and lack of vision of this majority condemns to degradation a municipal property with great potential for the community: the former Battifolle nursery school". Councilor Michele Menchetti comments on the rejection, which occurred in the last City Council, of the policy act he presented. The proposal aimed to enhance the municipal property building through the relocation of a school facility, with particular attention to the creation of a municipal nursery school to respond to the urgent need to increase the available places and eliminate the waiting list. "It is incomprehensible how such a concrete and advantageous proposal for the territory was rejected", says Menchetti. "A technical report dating back to 2021 clearly attested to the good state of health of the property and its immediate usability. Despite this, the majority expressed a clear 'no': 10 votes against, compared to only 9 in favor and 2 abstentions". The Councilor regretfully emphasizes the lack of motivation on the part of the majority. "I requested an intervention from the deputy mayor, present in the chamber, who months ago had proposed a similar solution to me. However, no explanation was provided for this change of direction. It seems that for Battifolle the only prospect offered is that of hosting a polling station, denying any other potential activity and service for citizens. This rejection represents a missed opportunity for Battifolle and for the entire Arezzo community," concludes Michele Menchetti. "Once again, they prefer to leave a municipal property in a state of abandonment rather than invest in the future of our children and our families."
